128 memory channels
128 channels ( Max.) separated into 8memory zones. Memory channels can
beidentified with the 8-character channelname and selected easily with
theup/ down buttons.
Front mounted speaker
4 watts ( typ.) front mounted speaker deliversclear and loud audio.
With thespeaker facing the operator, audio can beclearly heard without
impediment duringoperation.
6 programmable buttons
A pair of up/ down and P0– P3 function assignablebuttons allow you to
customizefunctions to meet specific needs. An independentvolume knob
offers simple, convenientoperation.
MIL grade rugged construction
The tough aluminum die-cast chassis andpolycarbonate front panel have
beentested to the MIL standard 810F. With thisheavy-duty construction,

to setup your own talk groups, PTT ID andquiet stand-by when others are
talking.The IC-F5023 series has addedCTCSS/ DTCS high speed decode and
2-Tone decode accuracy.

Multiple 2-Tone, Multiple 5-Tone
Up to ten 2-Tone and eight 5-Tone codescan be decoded on a channel.
When amatched tone is received, the followingitems are programmable for
each code.
• Beep sound
• Answer back
• Scan
• Bell icon
• Radio stun/ kill/ revive
• Radio kill, stun and revive
The radio kill/ stun functions disable a lostor stolen radio over the
air, eliminating securitythreats from undesired listeners.When the stun
command is received, allfunctions will be temporary locked outuntil the
revive command is received orthe unlock password is entered.
Lone worker function
When the radio is not operated for a presetperiod, the radio sounds a
beep andrequires you to push any button. If theradio is still not
operated for a specifiedwait period, an emergency signal
automaticallytransmits and informs co-workersthat something may have
happenedto the individual worker.
Mode dependent scan
In the mode dependent setting, the scanningsetting is dependent on the
operatingchannel. When you change theoperating channel, the scanning
list automaticallychanges to the list set for thatchannel. It is
convenient when you moveto a different operating area and
changeoperating channel, you don’ t have tochange the scanning setting.
Tx channel setting andTalk back function
The Tx channel setting allows you to programa transmission channel
while scanning.Start channel, last detected channel, priorityand
preprogrammed channel are selectable.Prior to the Tx channel setting,
the talk backfunction allows you to talk on the last detectedchannel,
while scanning resumesafter a preset time. The user can easilymake a
quick response with this function.
Wide frequency coverage
The IC-F5023 series covers a wide frequencyrange in one version ( VHF 136– 174MHz, UHF 400– 470, 450– 520MHz) .
Optional internal units
The IC-F5023 series has a 40-pin optionslot for adding an optional
internal unit. Optionalvoice scrambler units, UT-109R orUT-110R provide
secure private conversation.Optional DTMF decoder unit, UT-108R offers
DTMF decode capability.
External memory channel control with optional ACC cable
With the optional OPC-1939 D-SUB 15-pin ACC cable, the IC-F5023 series
canbe programmed to control an operatingchannel from an external device (
up to 16preprogrammed channels) . The ACC connectoralso provides an
ignition sensingfunction, external PTT, PC command, horn honk, audio
output and modulatedsignal input depending on programming.
